How this calculator works
- Formula: loan amount = EMI ร [(1 + r)n โ 1] รท [r ร (1 + r)n], where r = annual rate รท 12 and n = number of monthly EMIs. At 0% interest, loan = EMI ร n.
- This is the reverse of the standard monthly reducing-balance EMI used by Indian banks and NBFCs. No moratorium, fees or insurance are included.
- Income check: limit = net monthly income ร FOIR โ existing EMIs. It is a rough guide only; each lender sets its own FOIR and eligibility rules.
- The result is an estimate, not a loan offer or sanction.
Worked example
EMI โน25,000 at 8.5% p.a. for 20 years (240 EMIs).r = 8.5% รท 12 = 0.70833%.
Loan = 25,000 ร (1.0070833240 โ 1) รท (0.0070833 ร 1.0070833240) = โน28,80,771.
Total paid = 25,000 ร 240 = โน60,00,000, so interest โ โน31,19,229.
