Tally Bridge
Type or paste your ledgers, receipts, payments and journals into the tables β or import your Excel or bank statement β and download a file you can import straight into TallyPrime.
Use the table below like Excel β type, or copy rows from Excel and paste them in. Or fill the template and import it in one go.
Already in Tally β nothing loaded. Load your Tally masters so existing ledgers and groups are recognised and never re-created.
Click β Alter on a row to rename it, move it to another group, or change its opening balance.
How to export masters from Tally
- Open the company in TallyPrime and press Alt+E (Export) β Masters.
- Choose All Masters and file format XML (Data Interchange), then Send. Tally saves a file such as Master.xml in its export folder (shown on the same screen).
- To spot vouchers already in Tally: Alt+E (Export) β Transactions, XML (Data Interchange), for the period you are working on, and load that file the same way.
- Click Load from Tally above and pick that file. It is read only in this browser.
- No XML? An Excel/CSV list also works β a column of names, with optional Under and Type (Ledger/Group) columns.
Columns
When a line's narration contains the text, its Ledger is filled in for you. Rules are kept in this browser and also go into Save as Excel.
Period optional β vouchers outside it are marked red

How it works
- Groups (optional) are created under a standard Tally group or under each other β e.g. Rent & Utilities under Office Expenses under Indirect Expenses. Other group settings follow the parent.
- Ledgers are created new under a standard group, your own group, or a group already in Tally, with an optional opening balance (amount + Dr or Cr).
- Party details (new in version 2) β for ledgers under Sundry Debtors or Sundry Creditors: mailing name, address, state, PIN, GST type, GSTIN, PAN, contact person, mobile, phone and email; under All columns, bank details and MSME/Udyam too. Choose Party details above the table to see these columns. The GSTIN is checked (including its check digit) and fills in the state and PAN by itself.
- Contra (new in version 3) β cash deposited, cash withdrawn, bank-to-bank transfers. Money goes into the Bank/Cash column ledger and out of the Other ledger. Your own voucher types (e.g. βBank Receiptβ) work too, once you Load from Tally.
- Journals β one row per ledger line; lines with the same Entry no (J1, J2 β¦) make one voucher, with as many lines as you need. Debits must equal credits; bank and cash ledgers belong in receipts, payments or contra instead.
- Bank statement β upload the Excel/CSV statement from net banking; the tool finds the columns, skips headings and totals (and tells you which), checks every running balance, and fills ledgers from your rules (e.g. narration contains RENT β Office Rent). Ready lines move to Receipts & Payments.
- Already in Tally? Load a Transactions export from Tally and any row with the same date, ledgers and amounts as an existing voucher is flagged, with one click to remove it.
- Alter existing changes a ledger or group already in Tally β rename it, move it to another group, or change a ledger's opening balance. Only the columns you fill are changed; blank means βleave as it isβ. Load your Tally masters first.
- Receipt: bank/cash is debited, the other ledger credited. Payment: the other ledger is debited, bank/cash credited. Always enter a positive amount.
- Every row is checked as you go β the Check column shows β with the debit and credit, or what to fix. The file downloads only when every row is clean.
- Amounts are kept exact to the paisa. Dates can be DD/MM/YYYY.
- Repeats inside the table are caught. The tool cannot see vouchers already in Tally β check the Day Book before importing the same period again.
- Not covered yet: sales, purchases, GST/TDS, inventory, contra, split entries, bill-wise details and custom groups.
Example

- Download the Vouchers XML (receipts, payments, contra and journals together). In TallyPrime: Alt+O β Import β Transactions. Check the number imported and the Day Book.
- Once it matches, use it on real books β after taking a backup.
